Bank of America: Investors are dumping stocks and cash in favor of bonds

Bank-of-America-Investors-are-dumping-stocks-and-cash-in-favor-of-bonds

Bank of America said that investors are abandoning stocks and cash in favor of bonds, as they prepare for the risk of continued tightening monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve.

The American investment bank stated in a note that global stock funds were exposed to exits of $7 billion in the week ending on the twenty-second of February, and monetary funds lost $3.8 billion.

Bond investment funds attracted $4.9 billion, in the eighth consecutive week of inflows, the longest wave since November 2021.

US stocks suffered notable losses in the past weeks, with fears of continued inflationary pressures and the Federal Reserve's tendency to raise interest rates for a longer period than previously expected.

Bitcoin-BTC and Ethereum-ETH Price Forecast: Can BTC Continue Rising Above $24,000? Where is the price of ETH headed?

Bitcoin-BTC - the highest of all cryptocurrencies in terms of the entire market capitalization - witnessed a sharp reversal in the momentum of its price trends over the last 24 hours, as its price fell below $24,000, down from the recent highs around $25,100 in acute relapse Similar to the most prominent currency in the crypto arena, the price of Ethereum (ETH) followed the trend of its counterpart Bitcoin (BTC) recording a gradual decrease over the same period.

Bitcoin-BTC and Ethereum-ETH Price Forecast Can BTC Continue Rising Above $24,000 Where is the price of ETH headed

In any case, the downward trend - in general - in the digital currency market can be attributed to the expected release of preliminary data on gross domestic product (GDP) and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) mainly in the United States of America, which may increase the price fluctuations of the currency markets. digital.

In addition, the imminent release of the February Federal Reserve meeting report is seen as an additional factor to increase investor hesitation, contributing to the further losses incurred in the Bitcoin (BTC) price; As it is expected that the report of the Federal Reserve meeting will reveal a stance that tends to continue its hawkish approach regarding its monetary policies, which may contribute to limiting the gains of the most prominent digital currency.

It should also be noted that the US Purchasing Managers' Index (US PMI) - which was recently released with higher than expected values - has given the Federal Reserve additional economic grace to raise interest rates.

CleanSpark Defies Regulators: Massive Increase in Bitcoin Mining

CleanSpark Defies Regulators: Massive Increase in Bitcoin Mining

While digital currencies are rushing in a frantic wave of record gains within a few days, despite traders' fears of the US Federal Reserve's direction of a more aggressive than expected move towards interest rates.

And at a time when the restrictions of the two regulators in Washington against cryptocurrencies are heightened by the tendency to put in place more rules and controls to stifle the market.. one of the mining giants announced surprising moves that challenge these restrictions.

20,000 devices

CleanSpark, a bitcoin miner, said it has expanded its mining capacity in the United States with the purchase of an additional 20,000 Antminer S19j Pro+ rigs at a total cost of $43.6 million.

The acquisition is expected to increase the company's processing capacity by 37%. Additionally, the transaction will bring the total number of miners acquired during the bear market to 46,500 units.

more details

After applying a 25% discount to the hardware deal, the company will pay $32.3 million for the hardware. The Pro+ devices are expected to be delivered in batches between March and May and are 22% more productive than previous versions.

The company is increasing its mining capacity by taking advantage of lower rig prices in the market in order to do so while the price of Bitcoin (BTC) is rising.

According to information provided by Hashrate Index, the price of TH of ASICs as efficient as mining Bitcoin is currently at $15.09, which is a significant drop from the $90.72 price we saw one year ago.

higher yield

Compared to other same-generation ASIC computers, the Antminer S19j Pro+ model, according to CleanSpark, offers a higher return on investment.

According to the business, “Once fully operational, it is expected to add 2.44 EH/s to CleanSpark’s existing 6.64 EH/s bitcoin mining processing capacity (totaling 9 EH/s),” which represents an increase of 37%.

With this transaction, CleanSpark confirms that the outlook continues to be more attractive for its operations in current market conditions and that this trend is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

Strong increase

According to research by Hashrate Index, publicly traded miners saw their mining output as well as hash rates increase in January.

This came after a challenging year in 2022 marked by falling bitcoin prices and rising energy costs.

Over the course of the month, the amount of Bitcoin mined by CleanSpark increased by a whopping 50%, reaching a new monthly production level of 697 BTC.

Other public miners, such as Core Scientific, Riot, Marathon, and Cipher, have seen significant increases in bitcoin production over the past month.

130 billion

Cryptocurrency market capitalization has risen from its lowest levels in nearly 6 months to pass the $1.1 trillion levels again.

And the cryptocurrency market capitalization jumped in just six days to its highest level since mid-August, recording gains in the range of $130 billion.

The market value of digital currencies rose with a rising wave that swept all major digital currencies, jumping to levels near $1.117 trillion.

And digital currencies had fallen earlier, before inflation data was released, to levels of $985 billion, data that prompted risk appetite to move away from risky assets.

Bitcoin leads the market

The largest digital currency, Bitcoin, rose today, Sunday, to $ 25,000, jumping by more than 14% to $ 24.8,000 since the beginning of the bullish wave.

Bitcoin is up 18% in the month and over 41% year-to-date, while the largest cryptocurrency is up 55% in 90 days and 47% in 60 days.

Bitcoin's market capitalization increased in 6 days nearly $55 billion up from levels of $420 billion to current levels, at $475 billion.

Bitcoin price jumps about $26,000 after regulatory concerns calm down

Bitcoin price jumps about $26,000 after regulatory concerns calm down

Bitcoin approached $25,078 for the first time since August amid broad gains in the cryptocurrency market, as investors shed concerns about US regulatory restrictions.

Bitcoin price rose

Bitcoin price rose The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization increased by up to 3% on Thursday and was trading at $25,078.40 as of 6:00 pm in Singapore. Ethereum, Cardano and Polkadot also rose.

The United States cracked down on some cryptocurrency products as well as a move by a New York regulator to end the issuance of BUSD, the third-largest stablecoin cryptocurrency, at the start of the week. But since this time, the currencies have extended their gains from last year's decline, after Bitcoin rose nearly 50% since the beginning of the year.

Momentum in the cryptocurrency is likely to cause speculators to turn away from bets on the price decline, leading to an even sharper rally, said Ceci Lu, founder of Venn Link Partners, a blockchain advisory firm.

“People forget that the available bitcoins can be limited sometimes, and when the bets go down, the price jumps,” says Lu.

About $64.5 million short positions were liquidated in Bitcoin on Wednesday, the largest number of short positions in nearly a month, according to data from Coinglass. The liquidations came along with a nearly 9% jump in the cryptocurrency in yesterday's trading.

Cryptocurrency prices are surging as global stocks rally in which investors are betting that a Federal Reserve hike in interest rates can calm inflation without tipping the United States into recession.

The danger with the upbeat mood in global markets is that investors are getting too complacent about how higher interest rates should go, even though a prolonged monetary tightening could dampen demand for a variety of assets.

Between Bard & ChatGPT.. Artificial intelligence ignites the Microsoft and Google war

The features of a new battle between the technology giants "Microsoft" and "Google" are beginning to become clear, but this time in artificial intelligence.

Between-Bard-and-ChatGPT-Artificial-intelligence-ignites-the-Microsoft-and-Google-war

And that battle leads the two poles of global technology to compete for the future of search supported by artificial intelligence, especially Robot Chatting Apps.

Microsoft revealed its plans to integrate ChatGPT from OpenAI, which has caused a stir around the world, into the Bing search engine.

On the other hand, “Google” issued a quick announcement to introduce “Bard”, a competitor to “ChatGPT”, and promised to provide more details about the future of artificial intelligence later.

The two companies seek to achieve a new, revolutionary future for search engines, where results look more like short, simple answers generated by artificial intelligence than a collection of links to click on.

Between Bard & ChatGPT.. Artificial intelligence ignites the Microsoft and Google war

Google provoked its "Bard" chat program, by submitting inquiries that looked similar to the "ChatGPT" application, which made a paradigm shift and raised suspicion because of its capabilities.

Microsoft

Between-Bard-and-ChatGPT-Artificial-intelligence-ignites-the-Microsoft-and-Google-war

Microsoft is expected to boost its Bing search ambitions by adding a ChatGPT-like interface that answers questions in a way no search engine has done before.

The most human-like answers may be revolutionary in research, according to a report published by the technical website "The Verge".

ChatGPT brought AI to the conversation last year, and if the Bing integration works as intended, the use cases can really reduce hours of research, spreadsheets, coding, and more.

This is an ambitious move that, if executed well, could put some serious pressure on Google after years of dominating search.

While Microsoft's rapid commercialization of OpenAI models will worry arch-rival Google, how powerful Bing's chat functionality will be will be its top concern.

And while Google has been flexing its AI muscles for years, nothing has wowed the web quite like ChatGPT — even if it's not perfect.

ChatGPT is based on GPT-3.5, a large language model released last year, and Bing's chat functionality is rumored to be based on the yet-to-be-announced GPT-4 model.

What is Bard AI by Google?

Bard is an AI chatbot built using Google's LaMDA technology, which is similar to OpenAI's GPT series of AI language models that help run ChatGPT.

Google says it plans to open access to its "Bard" chat program more widely in the coming weeks.

It also invested $300 million in an AI company, Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI researchers, that researches AI language models and has built a ChatGPT competitor, Claude.

Why crypto market Is Down.. And dangerous statements from the US Federal Reserve

Why-crypto-market-Is-Down-And-dangerous-statements-from-the-US-Federal-Reserve

US regulators' rhetoric against cryptocurrencies reached new heights on Friday when Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller warned that cryptocurrencies could one day lose all their value and buyers should not expect anyone to bail them out.

Waller said in a powerful speech aimed at educating Americans about the unknown risks in cryptocurrencies and the often abuse of investors by funds and entrepreneurs in the cryptocurrency world.

Bitcoin price

Bitcoin price fell more than 4% during the day on Friday, hovering at $21,700 after Waller spoke out.

Bitcoin fell to a two-year low of around $15,500 in November, as US regulators including the Securities and Exchange Commission aggressively attacked the market after the scandal-stricken crash of FTX, an exchange facilitating trade in cryptocurrencies.

Prosecutors have charged FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried with stealing billions of dollars of client funds to plug losses at his hedge fund, Alameda Research, which acted as a financier backing the exchange. Bankman-Fried has denied any criminal wrongdoing.

The FTX saga initially caused a loss of about $1.3 trillion in cryptocurrency, though Bitcoin rebounded 40% in January from its November lows. “Clearly… cryptocurrency believers keep the faith,” the New York Times said in a January commentary.

The collapse of FTX also led to the bankruptcy of other well-known names in the cryptocurrency world such as Celsius Network and the lending unit of Genesys.

Besides Bankman-Fried, other individuals have also faced charges. Just on Tuesday, the DOJ said, a former product manager at another crypto exchange, Coinbase, pleaded guilty to insider trading using classified information about assets that were slated to be listed on the exchange. .

Waller said that while the impact of “the cryptocurrency industry’s pressures” on the financial system was minimal, it was necessary to mitigate the associated financial stability risks.

He added that banks dealing with cryptocurrency customers must comply with “know your customer” rules and anti-money laundering regulations.

Financial regulators, including those in New York state, have issued multiple guidelines to crypto investors and operators in recent months to prevent further meltdowns within the industry.

ChatGPT is about to pass a US medical exam

ChatGPT, which generates texts using artificial intelligence, achieved a score close to that required to pass a difficult medical exam in the United States, according to a study published Thursday.

ChatGPT-is-about-to-pass-a-US-medical-exam

OpenAI launched a "conversational robot" called ChatGPT last November, which was widely successful and caused a sensation due to its ease of use and its ability to engage in a dialogue-like conversation between humans, to answer questions asked to it in a somewhat accurate manner, and even to write novels or poems. in seconds.

In the study, published in the journal PLOS Digital Health, researchers from Unstable Health tested the robot's performance on an exam usually administered to medical students in the United States, which includes questions in various fields such as scientific knowledge, clinical reasoning, bioethics, and so on.

This exam, called the Medical Licensing Examination in the United States, is divided into 3 parts, the first of which students take after about two years of study and the second after 4 years, while they must succeed in the third in order to be able to practice medicine.

ChatGPT was tested on 350 of the 376 questions posted on the US Medical Licensing Examination website that were included in the June 2022 exam. Image-based ones were excluded.

The questions were divided into 3 types, one of which is open-ended questions. What is the diagnosis for this patient in light of the information provided? And another one can choose to answer it from a set of suggestions without the need for explanations. What is the most appropriate next step to follow up from among the following? And a third category that can be answered from a group of suggestions with explanations, what is the most likely cause of the patient's nocturnal symptoms? Explain what you based your answer on.

Two examiners corrected and scored ChatGPT answers, and a third judged the differences between them.

The percentage of correct ChatGPT answers ranged between 52.4% and 75%, noting that the percentage generally required to pass the exam is 60%.

The study concluded that ChatGPT is close to the margin of success.

Lucía Ortiz de Zarate, a researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid, considered that this study shows the potential of artificial intelligence in the medical field.

She believes that ChatGPT can be useful for clinicians when they are making the diagnosis and prescribing treatment.

Another study conducted last January showed that ChatGPT could pass the exams of a US law school even if it came last in the ranking of successful students.

Does China have a spy balloon over the US ?.. All you need to know

chinese-spy-balloon-montana
A balloon flies in the sky over Billings, Montana, on February 1, 2023, in this photo obtained from social media.

China acknowledged Friday that the high-altitude balloon spotted over Montana this week actually belongs to Beijing, but noted that the blimp is a civilian device "used for meteorological and other scientific research." A senior Pentagon official told CBS News on Thursday that the Pentagon is "confident" that it is, in fact, a Chinese surveillance balloon.

According to the U.S. official, the balloon's payload, or the lower part of the balloon that conducts surveillance, is the size of two or three school buses, and the balloon itself is much larger.

chinese foreign ministry statement

According to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the airship is "affected by prevailing winds" and its ability to control its direction is "limited." The statement also said that the balloon "deviated significantly from its planned route" and regretted that "force majeure caused the airship to stray into the United States."

By Friday morning, the balloon had moved over the Midwest, rather than over Montana, and was now over the "middle of the country," according to the report. Never before has a Chinese balloon passed over the middle of the country. The only time a Chinese balloon has flown over the U.S. mainland was when it briefly flew over Florida. It has flown over Hawaii and Guam. In previous instances, China has been able to retrieve the balloons. Although the balloon can be maneuvered, it moves in the direction of the jet stream.

There has been some discussion about capturing the balloon somehow, but this official states that it is impossible.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder declined to describe the specific size of the balloon. He said, "It is large enough that when we consider our approach, we recognize that any debris that could be dispersed would be significant and could cause civilian casualties and significant property damage."

The U.S. is "quite skeptical" of China's explanation of the purpose of the balloon and is in the process of trying to figure out what China's intentions were.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken was scheduled to make a diplomatic visit to China this weekend, but his visit has been postponed as the Biden administration considers a broader response to the balloon discovery,

The balloon is equipped with solar panels, so it will not run out of fuel. The official also said the balloon is steered by rudder and spun by corkscrews to slow its progress on land, but the jet stream keeps it moving on its trajectory across the United States. The Pentagon is still considering how to "dispose" of it, but there are "grave concerns" about the damage it could cause if it fell to Earth, he said.

A U.S. official said on Friday that the balloon was "not moving very fast."

Canada's Department of National Defense (DND) said in a statement late Thursday that the balloon was "detected" and that Canada is "taking steps to secure the airspace, including monitoring for a possible second incident," but did not elaborate on what that incident might be.

However, that the U.S. has not confirmed the possibility of the second balloon mentioned in Canada's announcement.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command is "actively" tracking the first balloon, the Canadian Defense Department said.

U.S. officials told CBS News that the balloon was flying at an altitude of about 66,000 feet. The balloon is maneuverable, but could eventually be pushed out of U.S. airspace because of the jet stream, they said.

Montana has silos capable of storing intercontinental ballistic missiles, and jet fighters were poised to scramble and shoot down the balloon.

Defense officials said such incidents have happened before, but never for so long. The U.S. has been tracking the balloon for "quite some time," which entered continental U.S. airspace a few days ago, they said.

The Pentagon's best judgment at this point, according to a senior Pentagon official, was that the balloon's surveillance capabilities are not a significant advance over what China can collect by other means, such as satellites in low Earth orbit. As a precaution, the Pentagon has taken additional mitigation measures to protect certain locations.

Other than shooting them down, U.S. officials pointed out to CBS News that there are other ways to deal with them, such as electronically jamming the signals they send back.

Ryder said the U.S. government will continue to "closely track and monitor the situation."

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tweeted on April 24 that "China's brazen disregard for U.S. sovereignty is a destabilizing act that must be addressed, and President Biden will not remain silent."

"I am requesting a briefing of the Gang of Eight," he wrote, referring to the bipartisan group of eight congressional leaders tasked with reviewing national intelligence information.

A U.S. official told CBS News Thursday night that the administration offered G8 staffers an additional briefing this afternoon "to get this information to Congress quickly."

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte said in a statement Thursday that he "received an intelligence briefing" Wednesday "regarding a situation involving a balloon suspected of Chinese espionage flying over Montana" and that he is "deeply troubled by the continuing developments that are alarming to our national security."

Groundhog Day 2023: General Beauregard Lee forecasts the weather

Georgia's famous groundhog General Beauregard "Beau" Lee has made his weather forecast for 2023.

where-did-groundhog-day-originate

Officials at the Dowsit Trails Nature Center announced Thursday morning that the groundhog hasn't seen its shadow — which means we'll be seeing the beginning of spring.

Lee's prediction contrasts with fellow groundhog Punxsutawney Phil, who announces that there will be six more weeks of winter.

Beau's ancestors began predicting the seasons on Groundhog Day in 1981. He moved to the Nature Center from the Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary in Gwinnett County.

Unlike an elephant, Georgia groundhogs have only expected a longer winter three times in the past 32 years. The last time a long winter was predicted was in 2019.

And according to PolitiFact in 2011, Lee has a better track record than Phil.

"Underdog Georgia is the champ," Politfact wrote.

where did groundhog day originate ?

The Groundhog Day celebration began with the early settlers of Pennsylvania, according to the Groundhog Club. They brought with them the legend of Candlemas, which states, "As the sun rises in Candlemas, so now will it snow in May...", the club notes on their website.

Candlemas included clergy blessing and distributing candles needed for winter. The candles represented how long and cold the winter would be, History.com notes. Germans expanded on this by selecting an animal the hedgehog as a means of predicting the weather.

Once in America, the German settlers of Pennsylvania continued this tradition, though they switched from hedgehogs to groundhogs, which were abundant in the Keystone State.

Punxsutawney held its first groundhog day in the 19th century. The first official trip to Gobbler's Knob—a small hill outside town—wasn't made until February 2, 1887. That year, Phil saw his shadow.

His first prediction of another six weeks of winter was accurate for a few regions, but came up short for several others.
