2023, expect to see these makeup trends everywhere.

A fresh start is ideal at the beginning of the year. Whether you choose to go platinum blonde to improve your appearance or set an ambitious goal to reset your lifestyle. Anyhow, January 1 is a great day to think about the future and all the amazing things it could bring.

In terms of beauty, the new year offers a tonne of chances to experiment with new styles. We are talking about hair colors, nail art, and haircuts, yes, but let's not overlook the wonderful and inventive world of color cosmetics. Lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, concealers, and more provide many chances for fun and self-expression.

Therefore, we asked three of the top celebrity makeup artists to forecast the cosmetics trends for 2023. There is a style for everyone, from delicate jewels and glowing skin to graphic makeup and bold lips.

Delicate Gemstones

numerous sparkles and shimmers! According to Jo Baker, a celebrity makeup artist and the creator of BAKEUP Beauty, "playing with texture, glitter, and embellishments is a huge trend that is on the rise and will continue to be seen on and off the red carpet as we approach towards 2023."

Because they "embody a distinct sense of personality and are the perfect instrument to boost your style and stand out in any context," she claims that gemstones in particular are a lovely way to subtly add a bit of shine to any outfit.

Use them any way you'd like, whether around your eyes, as accentuated freckles, or to contour your lips for a flamboyant look. As demonstrated in this look that Baker created on Lucy Boynton, you may also wear the with strong black eyeliner. She describes the aforementioned jewels as having a stardust-like sensation while still being beautiful and refined.

Animated Eyeshadow

Liquid eyeliner is not necessary to get a striking, graphic appearance. The Maybelline brand ambassador and celebrity makeup artist Keita Moore says he's been having a lot of fun experimenting with darker shadows with his customers. It's a fantastic method to establish a focal point and try out intricate detail work in such a restricted space.

Brown Eyebrows

Jenner tested it out. They were donned by Gigi and Bella Hadid on the Marc Jacobs autumn catwalk. And Julia Fox, shown above, has been in love with them for months. The most recent fad? bleached eyebrows You can totally fake the appearance using concealer and color correctors, or you can really go for it (carefully!) with genuine bleach. In either case, it's a striking ensemble that screams to go out on the town.

Peaceful Glam

This beauty look creates a finished look that is gorgeous and golden but yet neutral by combining soft neutral eyeshadow, bronzer, and a nude lip. Use a neutral eyeshadow palette, such as ORYZA BEAUTY Nude Shimmer & Contour Eyeshadow, and a peachy-nude lipstick, such as LARITZY COSMETICS Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Nudes, to recreate this Kendall Jenner-approved makeup at home.

Goddess in bronze

It's simple to consider bronzer to be only a summertime cosmetic. Put your favourite away later, though. Follow Chrishell Stause's lead and complement your bronzed appearance with the ideal glossy pink lip. You may now dress for fall temps by adding pink blush.

Your Favorite Celebs' Top Fall Makeup Looks

Fall has arrived, and we're all starting to add a touch of cosiness to

everything from our home décor to our clothing. As you make these seasonal changes, don't forget to refresh your fall makeup looks as well.

Any makeup that makes you feel good should be worn regardless of the season, but it may also be enjoyable to experiment with tints and colours that feel extremely seasonal and topical. Summer makeup is all about vibrant splashes of colour, bold lips, and sunkissed skin, whereas fall makeup is more about a cosy, warmer palette with darker eye and lip hues.

If you're looking to give your makeup a fall makeover, you're in luck. We've picked autumn beauty trends to fawn over below. There's something here for everyone, no matter what skin tone you have or what event you're designing a cosmetic look for.

Cat-Eye Effect

While the cat-eye, or winged liner, the trend isn't going away, it's becoming more prominent than ever. For a brief moment, it appeared like celebs were foregoing their black liquid liner in favour of a more modest wing composed of eyeshadow. While it is still fashionable, the big black wing is making a comeback—just ask Madelaine Petsch. Pick up ILLAMASQUA Liquid Eyeliner in Black to channel the actress.

Pink against Pink

Rosy red makeup (as seen on Megan Fox) may be a surprising showstopper. This monochromatic makeup employs the same rose tone for the eyes, cheeks, and lips to create a seamless effect. (Bonus points if you have pink hair.) Use the same powder blush on your cheeks and your eyelids to get this look fast and with fewer products. In Matchmaker, try CIATÉ LONDON Glow To Illuminating Blush.

Red Romantic

Here's an autumn makeup look that will look great on every skin tone. A bold cat-eye and a classic red lip combine to form a warm makeup look that will outlive any beauty fad. It's critical to use a red that complements your skin tone when recreating this look. Do you need assistance selecting the ideal red lip? We've got the definitive guide to red lips. When in doubt, choose a color like Lana Condor's BEAUTY FOR REAL Lip Cream + Color in Really Red.

Liner with a Rim

Strong eyeliner and delicate pink lips are never out of style. This classic neutral makeup look features barely-there neutral eyeshadow and dramatic, black-outlined eyes. Swipe PIXI BY PETRA Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir down your upper and lower lash lines for a dramatic, somewhat smeared appearance. Apply a couple of coats of volumizing mascara, such as BEAUTY FOR REAL Hi Def Mascara in Just Black, and your favorite natural pink lipstick to complete the look.

Lip Vampire

Don't be terrified of ultra-dark makeup hues packed with pigment, pale-skinned beauties. Strong colors may be especially eye-catching on your pale skin if you get the proper balance. Consider Natalie Portman's deep lip with a delicate, shimmering eye. What's the best method to avoid being washed out by vampy lipstick? Apply pink blush on your cheeks to brighten your skin. For all of the possibilities, we enjoy the NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette.

The Best Fall Makeup Looks From Your Favorite Celebrities

We're all starting to add a little warmth to everything now that fall has here, from our home décor to our clothing. Don't forget to change your fall makeup looks with the same adjustments you make to your seasonal wardrobe.

Regardless of the season, you should wear whatever makeup makes you feel fantastic, but it may also be enjoyable to incorporate hues and colors that feel particularly relevant and seasonally appropriate. If summer makeup is all about vivid flashes of color, bold lips, and tan skin, fall makeup tends to veer a little more toward a cozier, warmer palette with deeper eye and lip tones.

You're in luck if you want to refresh your cosmetics look for the season. The following lists 21 autumn

You're in luck if you want to refresh your cosmetics look for the season. fall cosmetic trends worth drooling over are highlighted in the list below. There is something in this article for everyone, regardless of skin tone or the occasion for which you're designing a cosmetic look.

Foggy Eye

Consider this hazy shadow effect to be the tinier, kinder sibling of the smoky eye. Caramel from VISEART Petit Pro Trois was applied with a fluffy brush in the crease and pulled out and up towards the tail of the brow, according to Pelfrey. I used a combination of the two tones to bring the shadow up to my lower lash line after deepening the crease with the colour Jasper with a smaller blending brush. Put a highlighter over the middle of your lid to complete the effect. You'll be radiant.

Extraordinary Glow

Hailey Bieber, the new face of beauty, prefers to have a "lit-from-within radiance" that makes her resemble a "glazed donut." However, this highlighter-heavy look is more than simply a terrific skincare regimen. Bieber used a cool-toned highlighter as the main cosmetic feature and let the rest of her face natural to avoid seeming overly showy. For that burst of champagne glow, we like SPACE CASE COSMETICS Seen From Space Highlighter in 1-E to get her look.

Beautiful in Purple

There's no need to hide any of those striking, summertime makeup hues. A vibrant makeup style that works all year round is purple eyeshadow. Use an eyeshadow palette like the HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette in Amethyst to recreate the look at home. Use a bright, more sparkly color as your highlight and a dark, matte purple for the lid. To make these eyes pop out, even more, keep the rest of your makeup simple and fresh.

naked lips and eyes

Selena Gomez demonstrates a straightforward makeup look here that can be used for any event, such as your sister's little wedding or an expedition apple-picking. Here, a natural eyeshadow shade, a matte nude lipstick, and a super-strong brow are the three essential components. Try using a brow gel, such as BENEFIT COSMETICS Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel, to both darken and provide a long-lasting lift to effortlessly recreate this look at home. Try Sweet Emotion CONTEXT SKIN Matte Lipstick on the lips.

You're in luck if you're prepared to refresh your cosmetics look for fall. We've featured gorgeous fall beauty trends below. There is something in here for you, regardless of your skin tone or the event you're designing a cosmetic look for.

Emerald Eyes

The fall and winter seasons are equally perfect for this vibrant smokey eye. Zendaya is wearing a jewel-toned emerald green eyeshadow instead of the usual browns and greys, which will undoubtedly glow against all skin tones. Find an eyeshadow palette with a variety of green shades in it, such as HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette in Emerald, to make this look extra simple.

Graphics with vibrant lines

The devil is in the details (and a steady hand!) with this graphic liner. An extremely little detail brush, such as the sort you can get at a craft shop, is advised by makeup artist Paige Pelfrey. To make eyeliner, simply moisten the brush and dunk it into your preferred shade. For this, Pelfrey prefers the THR BEAUTY Moonlight Palette, but you can also use your preferred color of eyeliner.

Brown Eyes

Use those shimmering, golden leaves as the basis for your upcoming beauty style. Here, Tessa Thompson's makeup artist uses delicate and understated gold eye makeup that draws inspiration from the season's amber tones. Apply your preferred gold eyeshadow to the entire lid (we recommend WANDER BEAUTY Wanderess Rush Eyeshadow Palette), then add a pencil-thin cat eye and a couple of coats of curling mascara. Put the shade in the inner corners of the eyes for the brightest glitter to intensify that golden shine even more.

Green Wing

Winged liner is a traditional look that will never go out of style, but Pelfrey's version with deep green and glitter gives it a contemporary spin. Unsure about your ability to fly a liner? Follow Pelfrey's suggestion: "To get this appearance, I first drew the wing with a liner brush and a shadow. The bottom lash line received glitter next. This perfectly completes the style. Pelfrey makes use of the Moonlight Palette by THR BEAUTY to get those vibrant green tones.

Lashes and Lips

Want to have a striking lip? All of us support it! Maintain the rest of your outfit modest to keep it trendy. According to Pelfrey, "keep this look simple with very little cheek color and the focus being a matte red lip." The simplicity doesn't stop there, though. This is a lash look, so there's no need for eyeliner or shadow, either, she continues. Pelfrey piled up on the mascara after brushing on a coat of M2U NYC Matte Liquid Lips in Queens. Try the CIATÉ LONDON Wonderwand Mascara to get her epic volume.

How to Apply Winged Eyeliner on Any Eye Shape

There is no one technique to obtain the ideal winged eyeliner, despite what many eye makeup tutorials claim. Because everyone's eyes are distinct, your perfect winged eyeliner approach and eyeliner materials should be as well.

So, how do you decide which method is ideal for nailing your cat eye? We've included the finest winged eyeliner application methods for every eye shape so you can choose the ideal eyeliner product approach for you (without having a beauty artist's steady touch). Plus, we've included a few quick and easy universal hacks for all eye shapes that you may apply in a pinch.

Cat-eyes and winged tips are designed to be as ferocious and individual as the person wearing them, so have fun figuring out which winged eyeliner style suits you best!

Winged Eyeliner Techniques for Upturned Eyes

A slightly upturned lash line defines an upturned eye shape. To master the ideal winged eyeliner for this eye shape, make an extra-graphic wing to bring emphasis to your eyes' inherent feline flick.

Try a gel liner (such as this user-friendly gel pencil from SMASHBOX) or a liquid liner to draw the contour of a radial nerve triangle (remember those from high school geometry?) on the outside corner of your eye, along your upper lash line for this eye appearance. Then, extend one triangle leg down to your bottom lash line, filling in the resulting blank area with your liner to create your wing.

Finally, to increase your eyeliner game, line your top lash line all the way into the inner corner of your eye. But don't stop there: stretch the liner all the way down to your tearduct to create a small point for the ultimate feline cat-eye.

To add a fun twist to this dramatic eye look, experiment with various colours eyeliner on your upper and lower lash lines.

How to Apply Eyeliner on Downturned Eyes

The best wing eyeliner for downturned eyes can extend and elevate your lash line. Look straight ahead and locate the middle of your eyelid (it's generally approximately where your pupil rests when gazing straight ahead). With your eyes still open, start lining your lash line from the centre and work your way outward to the outer corner of your eye.

Then, draw a line up to the outside edge of your brow (the further you extend, the bolder the look). Fill in the tapered wing to the thickness you choose. While you can line your bottom lash line and inner corner of your eye with eyeliner to accentuate your eye's downturned shape, leaving these regions bare will produce an extended and elevated winged eyeliner effect.

Hack

Use a pencil eyeliner like the MAC COSMETICS Pro Longwear Eye Liner for an on-point wing that's virtually hard to smudge. Of course, you can always apply a liquid concealer or a pencil concealer (whichever is more convenient) to remove any smudges and sharpen the lines on your eye appearance.

How to Apply Winged Eyeliner on Monolids

If you have a narrow lid space, often known as a monolid, you may simply emphasise your eye shape's strong lines by lining your top lash line with light, feathery strokes.

To create a winged eye, start at the inner corner of your eye and work your way out while keeping your eyes open. Taper the line outwards (towards the end of your brow) and fill it in to make a pointed wing until you reach the end of your upper lash line.

To complete your eye appearance, draw a fresh line from the outer border of your lower lash line to the wing on your top lash line, filling in the form as much as you wish. To produce dimension-building strokes, we recommend a felt tip liquid eyeliner, such as this MORPHE Felt-Tip Liquid Liner. Finish with a couple swipes of mascara and an eyeshadow swipe for an easy winged eyeliner smokey eye.

Makeup Tricks for Almond-Shaped Eyes

There are no excellent or poor eye forms; all eyes are lovely and distinctive in their own way. However, understanding your individual eye shape may make applying eyeshadow and eyeliner easier and more attractive. Today we're going to discuss almond-shaped eyes. If the iris (the colored component of your eye) touches both the top and bottom waterlines, you most likely have almond-shaped eyes. Your eyelids most likely have a noticeable crease, and the outer corners of your eyes may be somewhat elevated.

We asked celebrity makeup artist Jamie Dorman for her advice to assist folks with almond-shaped eyes nail any and all eye makeup looks, from lowkey everyday makeup to edgy midnight trends. She's painted the faces of celebrities like as Madison Davenport, Gabriella Pizzolo, and Dascha Polanco, so she knows how to create the most attractive looks for any eye shape.

Continue reading to discover her top tips for embracing almond-shaped eyes. We also included a few favorites

1. Keep your top eyeliner thin.

"Keep eyeliner thin on the top lid and increase it towards the outer 1/4th of the eye to highlight the almond shape," Dorman advises. Kim Kardashian's inky black liner is kept from being too thick in the inner corners, which would cover her lids. Tip: Adding eyelashes and/or mascara can make your eyes appear larger.

2. Fill in the center of your eyes with heavier eyeliner.

Some people with almond-shaped eyes choose to accentuate the shape, while others like to look to have round eyes—all it's a question of personal opinion. If you prefer the latter, Dorman recommends "placing the thickest section of your liner in the center of your top lid." This brings the line into the center and makes the form rounder. We adore IL MAKIAGE Black Card - Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner because it is really pigmented and lasts all day.

3. Make your lashes curly.

It's so basic, but it's so easy to overlook. Squeeze your lashes for a few seconds with your lash curler. Just be sure to choose a curler with a deeper arc and a broader hole to catch every lash. Then, add mascara and admire how big and open your eyes appear. Also, use your curler before, not after, applying mascara. That way, you won't accidentally pull some lashes out. Eek!

4. Apply a lighter shade of eyeshadow to your lids.

"On an almond eye, the crease shade looks best when blended very softly through the front of the crease, with the majority of the intensity on the opposite half of the eye," Dorman adds. That is while doing a cut crease, use a lighter eyeshadow on the lids and mix darker tones towards the rear and top of the lids.

5. Keep your brows light at the ends.

It's not simply eyeing makeup tricks that may make your eyes stand out. Grooming your brows can also help since thick brows can make your eyes appear smaller. "Go light and thin on the outside half of the brow following the arch to bring more brightness to this eye shape," Dorman advises. "This will give the eye a more open appearance."

2023’s Top Makeup Trends

From the New York Fashion Week runways to our favourite makeup artist recommendations, we've been waiting (OK, scanning social media everyday) for the new year's beauty trends to emerge. Will cosmetics get more daring? Will bleached brows become popular again? (Spoiler alert: it's true!) And, most importantly, will we be able to replicate them?

If you're as enthusiastic as we are about the beauty prediction for 2023, you've come to the perfect spot. We spoke with famous makeup artists Nick Lujan and Jamie Greenberg about the most intriguing beauty trends for 2023 and how to make them your own.

So, what's new this year, and what's staying the same? "Feathered brows will still be trendy, but we are also seeing a resurgence of the bleach brow style," says Lujan. Lips are taking the lead with strong reds, purples, and a lot of high-shine gloss toppers now that pandemic mask regulations have been lifted." What about some more exciting news? "Statement eyes are here to stay!" "Blues, greens, and embellishments will continue through 2023," adds Lujan. "Skinimalism, the barely-there makeup, and skin tints will be everyone's greatest friend," she says of skin.

Are you ready to plunge into the hottest cosmetic trends for 2023? Continue reading for our top, as well as pro makeup techniques for replicating them all at home.

Minimalist Blush

Minimalism is still popular, and there's an emphasis on letting your natural beauty show through with a few simple changes to your beauty regimen. Rather of stacking items in their typical order, we're creating a natural glow. "There's a movement away from stronger blush application and toward a delicate, understated blush-from-within look," Lujan explains. "Cream blush or lipstick are the best products to use for this procedure. After you've prepared and primed your skin, apply a little layer of skin tint or foundation all over it (Lujan uses KEVYN AUCOIN BEAUTY Stripped Nude Skin Tint). Then, using a blush brush, take up a little amount of cream pigment and test it on the back of your hand before applying it to your cheek.

Bold Blue Eye Makeup

"Blues can be scary; I would start with blue mascara for a gentle step into colour," adds Lujan. "If you are comfortable with blue mascara, you will be cosy with blue eyeliner in the waterline. These two methods may be used with any makeup look, from natural to dramatic, by simply substituting blue liner or mascara for your regular brown and black liner or mascara.

Already a fan of the daring blue? "For makeup junkies, try using a blue colour wash eye," Lujan suggests. It's essentially a smoky eye method using blue instead of dark matte black. With so many different shades of blue, you pick navy, royal, or dazzling blue."

Fun Metallic Lids

Metallics are a year-round favourite, and we're like a metallic eyeshadow kiss on the lids for 2023. Here's how Lujan puts it to use: "Once your skin and brows are complete (using your concealer and setting powder as a base to the eye region), take up a little of your favourite metallic shadow hue with your finger. Keep in mind that metallic shadows are best applied with your fingertips. The metallic shadow should be dabbed and swiped from the middle of the upper lash line outward, ending just shy of the crease. Finish the look with waterline eyeliner and a generous layer of mascara.

Monochrome Makeup

We're big lovers of multitasking when it comes to makeup, so we're excited to see that monochromatic makeup is still popular this season. "A blush hue that doubles as a gentle lip tint and a touch of warmth in the crease of the eye," Lujan recommends. Whether you prefer rose or peach monochromatic makeup or wish to go wild with plum or red, this simple and effective beauty trend will always steal the show.

The Top Makeup Trends of 2023 Are Here

We've been impatiently waiting (OK, everyday combing social media) for the following year's beauty trends to arrive, from the NYFW runways to our fave makeup artist suggestions. Will cosmetics be bolder? Will bleached brows return in style? (Spoiler: It's true!) The most crucial question is: Will we be able to replicate them on our own?

You've come to the correct place if you share our enthusiasm for the beauty predictions for the year 2023. The most interesting beauty trends for 2023 and how to make them your own were the topics of our conversation with famous makeup artists Nick Lujan and Jamie Greenberg.

What will thus change this year and what will endure? According to Lujan, feathered brows will still be popular, but the bleach brow trend is making a comeback. And lips are leading the way with vibrant reds, purples, and lots of high-shine gloss toppers now that the pandemic mask regulations have been lifted. Added good news, please. Statement eyes remain fixed! According to Lujan, blues, greens, and ornamentation will continue till 2023. The barely-there foundation, skin hues, and skinimalism will all be everyone's greatest friends for skin.

Ready to explore the top cosmetics trends for 2023? Read on for our top and expert makeup advice for recreating them all at home.

1. Highlight the Glazed Temple

You have definitely noticed the glazed doughnut trend or dewy, glazed skin trend all over TikTok. With moisturizing skincare and glow-enhancing cosmetics, it's all about achieving that glossy appearance. "Pushing the limits of highlight and glass skin to the next level, and prioritizing placement on the temple and orbital bone, rather the cheek," claims Lujan, is what we'll be doing in 2023.

According to Lujan, the glazed temple style "is a striking, light-reflecting, flash of highlight on the temples. In essence, all of the cheek highlight is being moved to the temple and orbital bone so that when you switch on your personal catwalk or angle your face, the light reflects with a flash.

This is how to make it: As a finishing touch, add a drop of liquid highlighter (Lujan prefers KEVYN AUCOIN BEAUTY Glass Glow Face) to the area of your palm between your thumb and wrist. Press your palms together to evenly spread the product between the two. Next, lightly press down on the temples, near to the hairline and away from the eyes.

2. Bleached Brows

When it comes to brows, bleached brows are making a comeback, and feathery brows are here to stay. Bleached brows are a popular trend this year because they "soften the frame of the eye region and concentrate all attention on the lashes and lids," according to Lujan.

As an alternative to committing to the bleached brow result permanently, Lujan continues, "I prefer to use a "faux bleach brow" treatment since it's quick and efficient." This is how: First, Lujan advises picking a shade of KEVYN AUCOIN BEAUTY Sensual Skin Enhancer that matches your skin tone the closest. “ I use a brow brush to apply it in opposition to the brows' natural hair growth cycle. Then, style the brow hairs in the direction that they grow with the same brow brush.

3. Patent Leather Lips

Red lips are always in vogue. This year's red, which Lujan defines as "strong red, long-wear lip with a high shine gloss topper," has a distinctly edgy vibe. Lujan makes it by applying a thin coating of translucent powder during application, extending the wear-time of colour. "Form the lips and lay a basis by using a neutral pencil. Use transparent setting powder to adhere. Apply a striking matte red lip colour, then set it with a clear setting powder. After letting the powder settle on the lips for a time, dust off the extra, then apply a luscious clear lip gloss.

Makeup Advice for Each Type of Eye

bly varied, with a vast range of sizes, hues, and shapes. Additionally, there are many cosmetic enhancement techniques and advice for every eye shape. Are you unsure of the form of your eyes? We have your back. Beforehand, we spoke with Giorgio Armani Celebrity Makeup Artist Tim Quinn to obtain his professional guidance on all the makeup tricks for each eye shape and how to highlight their individual features. But keep in mind that everyone can wear any kind of makeup they choose. These pointers are only recommendations for how to identify and emphasise your distinctive eye form.

Makeup for monolid eyes

A small amount of eyeshadow is all that is required to accentuate a monolid eye shape. Use the same shade on your top lid and lower lashline, blending it outward and linking them to complement and lengthen this eye shape, advises Renee. Also, don't be afraid to use eyeliner. Your monolids' natural beauty may be enhanced and defined in this way. Avoid heavy liners that may smear or disappear on the top lid, advises Wyman. Try using a gel eyeliner on the outside third of your eye instead, or smudge a deeper matte shadow colour on the outside margins of your eyelid and lower lash line.

Makeup for hooded eyes

You should design an eye look that offers the appearance of opening up the lid since a hooded eye shape might naturally make the eyes appear smaller. The outer two-thirds of the lid should be blended with a richer hue to add depth and character, advises Renee. To avoid shutting in her eyes, she cautions against putting the darker shade beyond the central point of the lid. "Help expand your eye region by applying a light, shimmering shadow to your inner corners," Nicolet advises.

Dark shadow looks and thick liner, according to Wyman, "would seal the eyes in deeper. To "fake the crease" and add some depth just above the natural crease line, use mid-tone matte shadows while keeping your eyes open, then mix with a fluffy brush. Apply eyeliner while keeping your eyes open and facing forward to create symmetry and ensure that it will be visible when your eyes are open. Then, to make eyes look more wide and more alert, add lashes with slightly longer center and shorter inner and outer corners. Another fantastic method for opening your eyes is to curl your lashes before applying mascara.

Makeup for upturned eyes

Reneet advises utilising a tightline approach with your pencil eyeliner to accentuate upturned eyes without making them appear smaller. To make a complete lash line, "line as closely to the lashes as you can and smudge into the lashes." Another really entertaining approach to improve upturned eyes is with winged eyes. Winged eyeliner or smoky or smeared shadows applied to the upper lash line and partially the lower lash line may be used to play up or emphasise this eye shape, according to Wyman. Individual or partial eyelashes on the outside corners are also quite attractive.

Makeup for downturned eyes

You and your favorite cosmetics item? Highlighter. Avoid using dark undereye concealers and really play up the highlight on your brow bone to give this eye shape additional lift, advises Renee. Or, to bring the eye upward, use a traditional cat eye. This eye shape can wear a winged liner like no other! The makeup expert advises using a classic natural-toned lid and wing liner to accentuate this contour. Several don'ts? Do not apply eyeliner or shadow all the way to the outer corners of the eyes, advises Wyman. Instead, to create a lifting impression, stop before the outer corner begins to descend and draw the shadow or liner just slightly upward.

Makeup for round eyes

Take advantage of the fact that your eyes are essentially a blank canvas and play around with eye makeup. Play up your top lash line and outside corners advises Wyman. "Always blend outwards, and try deeper shadows in a gradient to enhance depth on the outer corners. Or, for a raised appearance, consider a winged liner. Another way to draw attention to round eyes is to apply a shimmering shadow directly above the iris in the lid's center. It's fun to experiment with colour on people with round eyes. Try a vibrant color wash across the entire lid to draw attention to your eye form and make use of your eyelid area, advises Renee.

The Complete Guide to Understanding (and Improving) Eye Shape

We've all found ourselves getting caught in a TikTok scroll of cosmetic tutorials for the hottest eye makeup trends. We adore them and want to try them all, from subtle smoky eyes to epic cut creases, negative space wings, and more. But occasionally, something simply seems...off, even though we diligently follow every step down to the last lash. However, be aware that your technique might not be the issue before you point the finger at unsteady hands or a lack of expertise. In actuality, your eye form may be the deciding factor in everything.

There is no one-size-fits-all method for putting eye makeup. Every eye form, including almond, round, monolid, and others, has its own distinct beauty. Knowing your individual eye shape might help you choose which styles will highlight your eyes the best (so you never have to question your makeup skills again). All set to start? In order to better understand eye shapes and provide cosmetic advice for each, we turned to Merle Norman Cosmetics' Anne Marie Nicolet, and makeup artists Caitlin Wyman, Allie Renee, and Caitlin Wyman.

Discover Your Eye Shape:

1. Look for a mirror.

The good news is that there are only two easy steps to do if you want to figure out what shape your eyes are. "Before you start, it's good to realize you could not simply have one eye shape," advises Nicolet. Identifying the most noticeable aspects around your eyes is crucial. Look directly into a level mirror to evaluate your eye shape, paying attention to how much of your moving lid and crease you can see. Second, visualize a straight line passing across the middle of your eyes. Then, pay attention to where the corners of your eyes land on the line.

2. Search for a noticeable crease.

Look at the upper portion of your eyelid. Your eyes are probably monolids, according to Wyman, if there is no crease to the lid and a bigger lid space below the brow bone. The opposite is a hooded eye, according to Renee: "If there is a crease but it covers all or most of the lid." Consider yourself to have hooded eyes. When the upper lid hangs down somewhat, the natural crease seems veiled, and there is very little apparent lid space between the lash line and crease, according to Wyman, you'll know.

3. Draw an invisible line straight across your eye.

Try this approach if you don't have hooded or monolid eyes. The pupil should be in the centre of a straight line drawn across the eyes, advises Renee. Then, check the outer corners of your eyes to determine if they are pushing upward or downward in relation to the line.

Upturned eyes are those in which, according to Wyman, "the outer corners of eyes are somewhat upturned and are higher than the inner corner of the eye." if the corners rise over the line. Downturned eyes are when the outer corners of the eyes are somewhat lower than the inner corner of the eye. This happens if the corners fall below the line.

The Best Eyeliners for Sensitive Eyes That Are Hypoallergenic

Eyeliner is one step you absolutely must use when creating great eye makeup looks, like the traditional smokey eye, the vintage cat eye flick, and more. Like the cherry on top, it transforms any eye look from daytime to date night, from simple to bombshell, and from glam to goals. However, if you've ever applied your makeup and felt your eyes begin to tear up or seen redness in your reflection when you peered in the mirror, you could be one of the many people who are sensitive to your eyeliner.

Finding eyeliner that won't bother your eyes can be challenging, especially if you have sensitive skin, wear contact lenses, or are prone to allergies. Use only eye makeup formulations that have been deemed hypoallergenic is a regular recommendation for those with sensitive skin types. But what does this craze with beauty actually mean? Below, we break it all out.

What Does the Label "Hypoallergenic" Mean for Makeup?

Dermatologist Jaimie Glick, MD, notes that when a product is branded as hypoallergenic, the company is asserting that the product has less allergy responses than other goods. An eyeliner (or any other kind of cosmetic product) that is marketed as hypoallergenic is often a reliable sign that it won't irritate the skin. However, there is still confusion in the cosmetics business about what the phrase truly signifies. According to dermatologist Papri Sarkar, MD, "There is no FDA criteria or acknowledged set of outcomes that classifies a product as hypoallergenic." "Brands are allowed to use that phrase to describe whatever product they choose."

According to Sarkar, brands are often excellent about saving the hypoallergenic label for items with a mild ingredient list, but "they don't need to prove at all." The lesson: It's wise to use this label as a reliable starting point rather than assuming that all hypoallergenic formulations are suitable to use on sensitive skin. Then, before deciding whether or not it's a suitable fit for your skin, do a bit more research on what's actually in the mix. Take note of the ingredients on the ingredient list of any eye and skin products you find that doesn't irritate you and try to stick to brands that have those same ingredients.

Do Natural Eyeliners Protect Sensitive Eyes Better?

Although the word "natural" may give the impression that a product is mild on skin, this isn't always the case. In fact, according to Dr. Glick, patients commonly experience adverse reactions from using natural remedies, which usually contain substances like essential oils and plant extracts. Although a vegan or natural-based product won't always work for sensitive skin types, you should still exercise caution when trying them out for the first time. Try seeking for eyeliners that don't include common allergens like parabens, phthalates, sulfates, artificial synthetic perfumes, mineral oil, talc, formaldehyde, carbon black, etc. rather than just sticking with natural forms.

How to Test New Eye Makeup Items Safely

You have therefore discovered an eyeliner that seems to be genuinely hypoallergenic. It's time to put it to the test now. Perform a patch test first, then swipe it onto your eyes. The safest technique for those with sensitive skin to determine how a product will affect their skin is through patch testing. Dr. Sarkar advises applying a small amount of the substance you are concerned about to a spot that won't readily get sweaty, damp, or rubbed in order to do a good patch test at home. "Then, wrap it in Saran wrap and secure it with skin tape or an adhesive plastic bandage.

I advise choosing a location on your body that you wouldn't mind itching and turning red rather than your face, neck, or another very noticeable area. After 24-48 hours, remove the covering to see if the skin is red or inflamed.
